Class Descriptions:

MerKids Mermaid Swim – (Olympus Pod) – Advanced

Saturdays 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

This advanced MerKids class will give young mermaids and mermen opportunities to learn new and more advanced mermaiding skills and maneuvers, while building on previous classes. There will be swimming with age and skill appropriate props, including sea serpents, fans, tridents, and more. The class will also include learning more of the 10 skills most commonly used for competition and performance. There will be more breath techniques, a routine, combination work, and still with lots of fun built in!

NEW!!! MerKids Mermaid Swim – Beginner/Intermediate

Saturdays 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Come be a powerful mermaid in this Beginner and Intermediate mermaid swim class! Have loads of fun swimming in a mermaid tail and learn skills, tricks, bubble bending, and more in a structured class that will encourage, strengthen and challenge you to be all the MerKid you can be. If you have taken previously, we will keep you challenged with more intricate moves and skills. The class includes a safety segment, warmup, aquatic exercises, shallow and deeper water skills, breathing skills, underwater swimming, routines, games and more. The classes are progressive in skill building. A certified and enthusiastic instructor (mermaid) will swim right beside you. The class is limited. Register early to ensure a fin/tail arrives for your use before the first class. 

IF YOU HAVE ATTENDED MERKIDS FOR PREVIOUS SESSIONS, YOU WILL BE A STAR!! THE SESSION WILL ENSURE YOU ARE CHALLENGED WITH ADDITIONAL SKILLS IN THE CLASS AND A PROP OR TWO FOR MORE FUN! WE DO HAVE A PATHWAY TO ADVANCE OUR MERKIDS (OUR FUTURE POD AND POTENTIAL INSTRUCTORS) WHEN THEY ARE READY!

Prerequisites – must be able to do the following:  

1. Be relaxed in a back float

2. Front float

3. Roll from front to back

4. Tread water for 1 minute

5. Swim 25 yards/meters unassisted

Wear swimming attire, bring a towel, and goggles if needed. If a participant is younger than 8 years of age admittance to the program will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
